Electrolux Central Vacuum Options
Unlike some of the bigger names in central vacuum systems, Electrolux is also big in the portable vacuums world, also. When deciding which way to go, portable or central system, Electrolux is definitely a brand to check out.
Central vacuum units come in varying motor sizes to service a wide variety of modest to estate -sized homes. When pricing out a unit, make sure you have chosen the one appropriate for the square footage of your home, along with the correct number of inlets- one for every 600 sq. ft. of space. Then, don't forget to price the hose and attachments you will need. The last factor is whether or not you feel confident in installing this system yourself, or if on a new home, you just want to have the builder install for you. Most have the builder install units in new construction, but with the complete kits available now, some are taking a do-it-yourself approach to their existing home.
Electrolux was recently sold to Eureka, so there may be some name transitioning that occurs between the brands. The most significant change is that the Electrolux canisters will no longer be made of metal, but of plastic.
The Electrolux units are designed for the larger residences, with models that service up to 8,000 sq. ft. and up to 10,000 sq. ft. While these units are larger for larger service areas, they manage to keep the decibel level below 70 on both models, comparable to smaller central vacuum systems of other manufacturers.
The units are fairly compact, at only 34 inches and include a HEPA filtration system. Even with the compact height of the unit, the dirt capacity is 8 gallons, among the highest on the market.
The top end unit series for Electrolux is the Afuera™ system, touting the power brush that works for both carpeted and hard flooring surfaces.
Electrolux has some very efficient power-driven cleaning brushes to really deep-clean carpeted areas. They are a bit pricey, but have a very sleek design that should allow access under most furniture. There are some carpet brushes that are air-driven and do not require the power hose. These are much more economical, but obviously, performance is a little less than that of the power-driven units.
Almost designed for a hotel-type setting, or high beams, ceilings, etc., Electrolux offers a lot of telescoping tools and equipment.
Although Electrolux does not have a pre-packaged do-it-yourself installation kit, you can visit www.thinkvacuums.com and view the Electrolux products, along with an installation guide that will help you or your contractor to get all the proper equipment and desired accessories to install the system.
With the purchase by Eureka, the central vacuums will become very similar, and perhaps the differentiation will be the unique equipment and accessories that have been created under the Electrolux name.
Electrolux has represented a great name in portable and central vacuum systems. When considering this brand, be sure to get clear how Eureka will warranty and service this brand in the future, so that you are confident in the after-sale service and maintenance that will be available to you.
