Maintaining Your Cork Flooring

Since cork floors are soft, they're easily scratched. Sweep them frequently with a soft brush in order to remove abrasive sand and dirt, as such particles can cause damage. For deeper cleaning, you may mop cork floors with a sponge mop. Use a diluted household detergent. Make sure to wring out and rinse the mop frequently in order to remove grit that could scratch the flooring. The dealer who sells and installs your cork will likely have additional specialized products you may consider.

Cork floors do show wear and tear over time, even those that come pre-finished.  Then you'll want to reseal the flooring with an acrylic finish.  You can tell it's time to reseal your floors when the surface begins to look dull (look for this in heavily trafficked areas first).  Before applying the finish, you should key the surface of the cork lightly with a fine-grade sandpaper.
