Cast Iron Gas Fireplace Insert Features Early-American Style
Traditional wood-burning fireplaces are drafty and not very heat-efficient. In addition, you have to go out and chop or buy wood and build a fire from scratch every time you want to see flames. Oh, and don't forget cleaning up the ashes afterwards!
A gas fireplace is a much more convenient option. Not only is there no cleanup, but these units do a great job of heating up the space. They're much more efficient than wood fireplaces, and they can even provide heat and a bit of light during a power outage.
If you already have a fireplace, you can get a gas insert that installs into your existing firebox. Gas units can be run on natural gas or, if your area doesn't have natural gas, propane tanks.
Even though a gas fireplace is a relatively modern invention, you can get styles that harken back to different time periods. The cast iron face and surround panels of this insert are rendered in an early-American style that would make this modern technology fit perfectly even in a historic home. The double doors even open, so you can pretend you're peering into an old-fashioned stove.
