Make Your Own Concrete Edging Stones with Decorative Molds

decorative-concrete-edging-mold.jpgA concrete edging mold lets you create decorative and functional edging stones to hold back dirt and bark in your garden beds. Sure, you can buy edging stones pre-made at the home improvement and garden stores, but why not add a bit of your own touch and personality by making them yourself? (Oh, and you can save money too.)

When you shop online, you can find all sorts of decorative molds that give you more variety than you'd have just looking at the pre-made variety. Also, when you mix the aggregate yourself, you can add color via iron oxide cement pigments, so you don't have to stick with bland gray concrete or red brick.

This grasshopper edging stone mold is one of several designs available from a little outfit called (appropriately) Garden Molds.

A mold will cost you $11 and is good for many pours, though you'll probably want to buy more than one unless you want it to take all summer to get that edging around your garden beds.
