Glass Pool Fence = Swimming Pool Safety + Good Looks

glass-swimming-pool-fence.jpgIf you're installing a swimming pool in your yard, you may be required to put a fence around it or the yard, to ensure children (whether yours or the neighborhood kids) can't get in unsupervised. The problem with a tall pool fence is it breaks up your yard, and even though the building codes require it for safety, a wooden or metal fence will actually obscure your vision. So if you want to watch the kids play in the pool while you're making dinner in the kitchen or some such, it's hard to just glance out the window to make sure they're okay.

So a glass swimming pool fence can be a nice solution.

With glass, you get modern clean lines, a see-through option that lets you watch the kids and doesn't break up the yard, and you should meet safety and building code requirements (check in your area to see what fence codes are--height requirements will vary from town to town).

The downside of a glass pool fence? Lots and lots of real estate (glass estate?) to gather fingerprints, dog nose prints, fly-by bird droppings, etc. Make sure to pick up the Costco size bottle of windex when you order your fence.

The fence shown here is from the gallery at STM Fencing.

I'd be afraid that some overactive, rowdy kids would shatter the glass. I can't imagine the disaster that would create on the deck and in the water. Nah...I'll stick with the old fashioned yard fencing.

I imagine it's tempered safety glass that's not easy to break.
