Ultra Quiet Whirlpool "Duet Sport" Front-Loading Washing Machine
I must confess: I've never purchased a washing machine. I've been using the one that came with my home, and it's a noisy beast. Though there are more exciting things to spend money on, some of the new laundry appliances out there have me tempted to make a purchase. For instance, the Whirlpool WFW8500S "Duet Sport" front-loading washer has a lot of nice features. (The only feature my current washing machine has is the ability to choose cycle style and load size--yawn.)
Since my current washer is very noisy and is located close to my home office, I'm particularly drawn to this model's "Ultra Quiet Wash" upgrade. "Ultra Quiet Wash: Our quietest wash system ever. Strategically-placed, sound absorbing materials on the front, sides and bottom of the washer cabinet, along with a quieter hose design, gives you the flexibility to operate the washer wherever and whenever without disruption."
Some standard features include a built-in water heater, Energy Star qualification, a time-remaining status indicator (with mine, you just guess how much time is left based on where the knob is...), delayed wash option, and a child lockout feature. I imagine the child lock is important with a front-loading washer. You certainly don't want your kids to be able to crawl inside the washer.
The Duet Sport has a lot of other features, too, if you want to check out the product page:
