Turn Your Fire Pit into a Barbecue Grill
The grilling purists sneer at propane powered barbecues in favor of charcoal. But you can't get any purer and closer to nature than by grilling your meal over the embers of burning logs. Sure, you might need a little more patience than with a gas BBQ with its child's-play knobs that let you dial up the heat to a precise setting, but you'll enjoy a meal enhanced by the smoky flavor of being cooked over a real fire.
You can do this whenever you go camping, but for enthusiasts who'd like to grill over a wood fire more often, it's easy to get an accessory to add to a backyard fire pit. The chrome-plated grill pictured here is designed to go with a portable pit from Smith & Hawken. The pit is $130, the grill $30.
