GE Profile Freestanding Gas Range

ge-profile-gas-range.jpgShopping for a new freestanding gas range? With a price range of $1,200 to $1,950, the GE Profile isn't a bad mid-range bet. Pictured here is Model# JGB918SELSS (no bonus points for consumer-friendly model names), and the unit (yes, it's available in stainless steel) includes a 1.0-cubic foot warming drawer beneath the oven. The drawer has a baking range of 150 degrees to 450 degrees, so it can actually work as a second oven in its own right.

What I like about the Profile, though, is the oval-shaped middle burner (giving you a total of 5 burners), which accepts a griddle, so you can sizzle some bacon and flip a few pancakes without getting out any extra pans. The unit also has a "PowerBoil" 17,000 BTU burner, perfect for those of us who get impatient waiting for our water to boil.
