Try a Pellet Stove for Heating This Winter
If you're looking for a low-cost way to heat your home this winter, you might check out pellet stoves. This fuel cost calculator from Harmon Stoves lets you compare burning pellets to other forms of home heating. Burning wood does, of course, take a little more maintenance than simply turning on a gas furnace (you have to load pellets, empty ash pans, and clean the stove more often than you do a furnace). Still, it can be an economical alternative to relying on "the grid" for heat. If you decide a pellet stove does pique your interest, you can find them at prices starting around $1,300 (plus $650-$900 for installation).
