Faber Concept Says Good-bye to the Traditional Range Hood
Kitchen ventilation is important because it sucks out the smell of your burnt eggs as well as any steamy moisture from boiling pots (moisture eventually takes a toll on the walls and ceiling, leaving water damage). When most of us think of kitchen ventilation we think of range hoods, but there are some other methods that are especially popular in modern settings. For instance, the Faber Concept actually meshes with the wall behind the stove, where the backsplash usually is. This eliminates the need for a clunky hood. The Concept has a "perimetric suction system" that can do just as good of a job as a range hood. Sound-proofing promises "whisper-quiet" operation (if that's true, that could make it worth the price right there--my current microwave/range hood combination sounds like a jet engine taking off). And, of course, it's designed in a sleek stainless steel to match your high-end appliances. If you would like some extra lighting on your cook top, you can get the optional hanging halogen light fixture. It's made from stainless steel and glass to match the ventilation system.
