Bamboo Countertops
We've talked about bamboo flooring from time to time, but did you know bamboo is also a viable material when you're talking countertops? Wooden butcher block counters are warm and cozy, so many prefer them to the sterile coldness that stone can impart, but they're not exactly environmentally friendly, are they? If you want to do an eco-friendly kitchen remodel with a similar look, bamboo offers the same warmth as butcher block. Since its a grass, it grows much faster than a tree, so resources can be replenished quickly, classifying bamboo as an eco-friendly building material. The countertop in this picture is made from bamboo plywood, which is available at many of the same retailers where you can find bamboo flooring.
