Hurricane-proof Roofing

storm-proof-roofing.jpgIf you live in a region that is prone to hurricanes, tornadoes, or other big storms, a storm-proof roof is a necessity. If you want to feel protected, it's hard to beat a metal roof. One manufacturer, Solar Shields, promises, "Every Solar Shield installed metal roofing system withstood all of the 2004 and 2005 Florida hurricanes without loosing a single panel." Their roofs are designed to withstand winds faster than 155 miles per hour and also deaden noise from rain and hail. If you've seen metal roofs and thought them ugly, know that today's manufacturers are giving them far more style than when they first came out. Solar Shield offers more than 100 colors and seven styles, which include shingle or panel (shown here is their Santa Fe Shake Style). And although these roofs are made from metal, they're no more likely to attract lightning than any other roofing material.
