Natural-looking Swimming Pools Are In
The old square blue rectangular swimming pools are out and natural is in. Natural pools are designed to fit into the landscape with boulders, dark bottoms, waterfalls, and pebblestone finishes.
This look doesn't come cheap though. While traditional inground pools cost about $15,000 (nation-wide average), natural pools can start at $50,000. Just adding a boulder waterfall to your design will cost $8,500.
Why are people willing to invest in these luxury swimming pools? They're trying to spend more time at home with friends and family. Some of these pools are such incredible sanctuaries that there's no need for travel; you've got peace and relaxation from your own backyard.
But what about if you're going to sell? Despite the fact that in the US, swimming pools are an $8 billion dollar industry, they're not a very good investment. Adding a swimming pool (even a cool luxury one), probably won't add as much value to your home as you might think. Expect to only get 35%-50% back on every dollar spent. If you decide to install a pool, make sure you're doing it to add value to your life, not your home.
