Manufactured prior to 1881, the grinder features solid construction that is a testament to the functional yet handsome creations of the Industrial Revolution. They didn’t have the term “planned obsolescence” in their vocabularies back then, but, even so, it’s impressive that this coffee mill still works.

“This Enterprise No. 7 coffee mill was manufactured prior to 1881. After 1881, all of the mills produced by Enterprise had covers, but this grinder never had one. When I got this mill it had already been sandblasted and painted. It has been repainted in more appropriate colors with blue and gold leaf highlighting the wheels and lettering. It has over 15 inch wheels and weighs in at almost 50 pounds. This mill would look great in a Coffee Shop or even in a large kitchen used as a centerpiece. It has been thoroughly cleaned, works very well and grinds very quickly. The only problems to report are that one of the ‘wings’ on the wing nut has been broken off and the bottom of the drawer has some wood missing near the front.”

A couple potted philodendron plants can brighten a sitting area, and if you have large windows in a certain room, this plant will tie the indoors with the outdoors.

Another option for displaying this massive plant is to cut a single philodendron leaf and place it in a glass vase with some dirt and water.

If you do a lot of ironing, it might be something to check into. The Miele version has a lot of handy features.

• It’s operated with a foot pedal, which allows you to take a load off while you work.
• It has a fold-away mechanism and wheels that make the professional-style ironing appliance feasible for home use.
• An extendable clothing bar gives you a place to hang your shirts when you’re done ironing them.

Personally, I’d still rather have someone else do my ironing (or not wear anything that needs ironing), but I’m lazy like that.  If I were to wield the hot blade, I think a rotary iron sounds like the way to go.

If you pick up some shatterproof wine glasses, you can pour your favorite vintage without worrying that someone will knock a glass onto the patio or pool deck. And if you’re half the klutz I am, you might want unbreakable wine ware for in the house too. (I don’t think I’ve got a set of glasses or plates without at least one missing piece.)
