Napoleon Gas Fireplace with Waterfall

We’ve talked about waterfalls combined with fireplaces before (i.e. the Max Blank Niagara Fireplace), but there’s more than one water feature in the game. Situated on top of the Napolean 36″ direct vent gas fireplace, this waterfall creates mood with its softly trickling water, but it also does something functional: it doubles as an air purifier to continually clense and remove odor from the air in your home. As for the waterfall itself, you can choose a brushed stainless steel panel for the backdrop or a grooved Luxidio granite finish panel, which creates a ripple water effect. And if the fireplace isn’t your thing, you can get the waterfall as a standalone wall piece. The price for the waterfalls starts at about $1,500.

Freestanding Gas Fireplace

This winter, gas fireplaces are in. Er, actually they’re out–out of the traditional fireplace hearth/mantle/surround set up. Freestanding stoves like the Paloma from Heat & Glo can go in any room, and they’re designed to look good all by themselves next to a wall or in a corner of the room. The Paloma can be vented either to the top or behind, and its 42″ tall curved firebox lets you see the fire from several angles. Its double-glass front design is available in four different tints. The price is $2,399, and the self-contained fireplace generates up to 30,000 BTUs.

Ceiling Fan + Heater

The Reiker Room Conditioner is a ceiling fan that doubles as a space heater. The company says it is more efficient than other heating systems like forced air: “Traditional heating methods cause hot and cold spots and allow heat to rise to the ceiling where it is wasted, and ductwork is as much as 50% inefficient.” Their fan works by producing heat, then pushing the warm air down, and continuously recirculating it, which is supposed to keep the room heated evenly and comfortably. It comes with a remote control to make adjustments easy. The price for the Reiker ceiling fan runs $350-$99.
