Hand-crafted Mosaic Chiminea Makes Colorful Outdoor Fireplace

Lindsay ~ 22 March 2010

If you’re thinking of adding an outdoor fireplace or fire pit to your patio this summer, then why not go for something vibrant hand-crafted?

This mosaic chiminea (originally from Mexico, chimineas are freestanding, front-loading fireplaces that can sit on any hard surface) is made by Kathy Joseph, an artist on Etsy.

The colorful fireplace is decorated with recycled dishes, such as teapot lids, cup handles, and small china items. This one-of-a-kind piece would surely wow visitors, and it’ll keep your patio warm on a chilly night, too. A chiminea works just like any other fireplace, so you can grab a stick and roast some marshmallows or just enjoy the crackling flames.

You can get the piece for $600 at Kathy’s Etsy Shop, or, if it’s taken by the time you get there, take a peep at her other mosaic offerings.
