Tips for Removing Urine, Part 2
Urine stains on your carpet shouldn’t last forever. Plus, it’s important to thoroughly remove the urine from the carpeting or rug for health purposes. If you’re against using harmful chemicals, you can try a natural, chemical free recipe like the one below.
You will need the following ingredients: borax, water, vinegar and baking soda. Whether your child or pet has urinated on a mattress, rug or carpet, dampen the area with water and mix borax into it. Try to get as deep down as you can with carpets and rugs, because you want the mixture to reach the padding. After this mixture has dried, vacuum it up. For tougher stains or if you want to ensure that the odor is gone, add water, vinegar and baking soda to the spot. After this solution has dried, vacuum up the remaining baking soda.
Depending on how set in the stain is, you might want to treat the spot multiple times.
