Secure Your Home with Glass Break Detectors

MarinaHanes ~ 13 November 2009

Glass break detectors are a type of burglar alarm that alert you when glass has been broken in your home. Some security systems come with this feature; however, you can also install them yourself. Basically, these devices pick up the sounds or vibrations that result from glass shattering on the floor.

This type of detector can be electric or non-electric, but the electric models can be set off more easily. It’s easy to install, because it’s a small device that you attach to the glass on your windows. The WindowBug 724 is a small device that can be installed on your window, and it provides a 4′ x 8′ coverage.

If you end up installing a glass break detector, it’s important to check the area for potential problems. For example, sometimes drapes, shutters or blinds can prevent the detector from working properly. Also, if your glass is cracked, the device won’t work properly.
