Energy Saving Flat Screen TV

MarinaHanes ~ 22 July 2009

Do you feel like you’re the last person left on earth without a flat screen television? Updating your television is definitely a way to increase your space, because they can be mounted to the wall. However, you can also increase your electricity bill if you don’t do any comparison shopping.

Although the bulkier televisions don’t have the most attractive designs, they use less than half of the energy that a typical flat screen uses. Many television companies are working toward reducing their flat screen’s energy consumption within the next couple years. This includes Sony, Sanyo and Sharp. Sanyo is even experimenting with solar powered televisions.

You might be desperate to purchase a 42-inch screen, but it might be worth it to wait. In the meantime, you can save up your money for the expensive wall mounts, which can cost $100 and up. Also, remember to keep the television at a reasonable size, so it’s not the focal point of your room.
