Reflect Some Light

Living in a dark home can affect your mood as well as the colors of your décor. If you have jeweled tone fabrics and wallpaper or paint, the rooms can seem smaller and dungeon like if light isn’t filtering in. Finding ways to reflect the natural light that does enter your home can make the rooms feel airy, bright and happy.

High-gloss finishes on wood, chrome, glass and tile can bounce light in the kitchen, family room and bedroom. This added light can create an active and vibrant ambiance, which can enhance the appearance of your furniture too. Plus, this high-gloss will keep these materials looking new.

Painting your cabinets a lighter color such as white offers another surface for light to bounce off of, or you can incorporate lighter toned wood. Also, decorations such as pictures, glass top tables, vases, chandeliers, etc. provide another opportunity for natural sunlight to be reflected throughout the rooms.
