Open Showers

11 June 2009

Open showers can be a solution to small bathrooms. If you can’t stand the limitations of a smaller shower such as banging your knee or elbow against the door, redesign your shower so it doesn’t need a door.

When a shower is built with a deep sill and walls, it eliminates the need for a door or a curtain. Some nice add on features would be a built-in bench and skylight. Also, an interesting tile layout is essential, because this will be the focus of the room.

If you’re creative, develop a custom design. Maybe create a sun shape around the shower head with orange and yellow tiles. Some people have even designed underwater scenes with colored fish, which is fun for a kid’s bathroom. Or go for earthy toned tiles, which are classic and versatile. You can always incorporate colored tiles with earthy ones to make certain elements of your shower pop.
