Eco-friendly Siding from Poplar Tree Bark

21 April 2009

Wood siding is a fun alternative to all the vinyl in the world, and we’ve looked at some before (such as Brazilian wood siding, cedar shingle siding, and siding made from reclaimed barn wood). Another wood option that’s eco-friendly as well as unique looking is bark.

The folks at Timberclad Poplar Bark Siding say that “by reclaiming the bark from trees that are already being cut for use in the furniture and plywood industries, we can minimize the environmental impact with architectural bark designs across our mountain landscapes, seaside cottages, lake houses, and resorts across the nation.” And maybe your house too?

If you’re not ready to tree up the entire exterior of your house, you might just consider adding an accent area to get a bit of the rustic touch. Or order a small box of bark for crafty projects or interior walls. After all, bark is versatile stuff.
