Barn House Kits Let You Build Your Dream Country Home

14 March 2009

There are more folks than you’d think who buy centuries old churches, schoolhouses, libraries, and even barns in order to convert them into their dream homes. At first glance, this might seem a bit eccentric, but when you think about the soaring ceilings and large open spaces inherent in these types of structures, you might be able to see some of the appeal. It’s sort of like the country version of an urban loft apartment.

Unfortunately, there are only so many old barns and such to go around, and if you live someplace like the West Coast of the U.S., there just aren’t that many centuries old building of any type to find and convert. But if you like the idea of a house with lots of barn-style open space and soaring ceilings, you can always start from scratch. There are even companies that specialize in barn kits that create barn home versions.

While Uncle Howard’s specializes in barns for livestock, you can have any of their buildings converted into a house.

If you have a preconceived idea of what a barn must look like (big, red, etc.), browse through their site because they have some handsome structures that might change your mind of how a barn house might look.
