Space-saving Wall Hung Toilet Goes Square

19 December 2008

A wall-hung toilet can be a great decision in a small bathroom or powder room. They’re quite common in Europe but can be purchased in the U.S. too (though they do cost more than traditional toilets).

With these compact units, the slim tank is hidden between the studs in the wall. There’s usually a button you push to flush, instead of a lever on the tank. The flush itself is quieter than standard toilets, since the tank is behind the scenes so to speak, but the real advantage is in the space-saving capacity of these small toilets.

Since the tank is in the wall, the bowl itself doesn’t take up as much space as with a standard toilet, and since the frame and support for the bowl is also in the wall, these toilets don’t touch the floor, making it easier to keep the area under and around the bowl clean.

The cute square model shown here is from Roca. The Roca Element Wall Hung Toilet is part of a bathroom collection, so you can also get a square sink and bidet if you wish.
