Heated Patio Pad Melts Snow and Keeps You Cozy

17 December 2008

You’ve heard of heated floors for inside your house, but did you know you could also have radiant heating installed under your patio?

A heated patio pad can keep your outdoor living space free of snow and ice in the winter and warm up the area on cool summer nights. If your area gets a lot of snow, you can have drains installed in the concrete in order to handle the melt off. This also makes cleaning and maintenance easier the rest of the year, since you can just hose water and small debris into the drains.

In addition to heating your patio, you can also install radiant heating systems under driveways and walkways. Hey, snow throwers and shovels are pretty overrated, if you ask me.

The only downside, of course, if that you will have to demo your existing patio/walkway/driveway to put something like this in, but if your current concrete is full of cracks anyway, it may be worth the investment.

The patio here was done by Anderson and Sons, Inc.

Interesting idea, but I as well as many others have experienced VERY poor quality with SmartHome Insteon products. Readers may wish to check out my blog post on Insteon here:

Quick Version: I have Insteon devices fail every month or two and will never purchase an Insteon device again.

PS – Thanks for turning on comments for HII. I have been a long time reader.
