A butcher block countertop can be handy, since it allows you to chop veggies and prepare meals without getting a cutting board out, but these wood countertops can be very attractive too.

Just as with hardwood floors, there are many species of wood that can be used, some quite exotic!

The handsome countertop here is made from over 225 one and three quarter inch wide Lyptus blocks. The wood is 2.5 inches thick and features an FDA food grade approved white mineral oil finish.
