Keep Area Under Deck Dry for Storage or Living Space

19 November 2008

If you’ve got a second story deck, it makes sense to use the space beneath it for storage or another outdoor living space. However rain falling through the deck boards can make things wet down below. If you’d like to keep that space dry, there are various products you can install that prevent water from falling through the boards and instead channel it so it runs off by the edge.

We looked at one of these under deck systems before, but here’s another option from Dry-B-Lo that not only keeps the space dry but provides an attractive “ceiling” for that lower level:

The “Hidden Channel System” uses “DRY-B-LO’s original patented channel design to carry water and debris away from the home and deck while allowing for customization of the ceiling with a variety of woods and stains.”

While you might not need anything this fancy if you’re just creating a storage space beneath the deck, it could certainly look good for an outdoor living area.
