Eco-friendly Garage Doors Made from Recycled Wood Fibers

Lindsay ~ 24 October 2008

If your home is in need of new garage doors, or you’re building a house from scratch, you might as well make an eco-friendly choice. Don’t worry–you don’t have to have doors made out of old tires or recycled bicycle parts or anything too funky.

These green “EcoBuilt” garage doors from from Overhead Door Corp of Dallas are made from 100% recycled wood fibers reclaimed from sawmills. The fibers are combined with resins and wax to create doors that look like wood (not sawdust or particle board or anything you imagine when you heard “wood fibers”), and there are several colors and styles available.

In addition to being eco-friendly, these composite garage doors are supposed to be more resistant to moisture than solid wood, and they shouldn’t warp, bend, or split.
