Automatic Nightlight Doubles as Emergency Light and Flashlight

8 October 2008

A nightlight in the hallway is a handy way to keep family members from tripping over rugs, toys, sleeping pets, etc. during nocturnal visits to the kitchen or bathroom. You can get any nightlight to serve that purpose, but as long as you’re picking one up, you might consider a model that has some other useful features.

For example, this “Four in One Emergency Night Light” can be detached and used as a flashlight during a power outage. It can also be brightened to act as an emergency light for up to 8 hours (in nightlight mode it uses 1 LED bulb, but it has 3 to use during the other modes).

The automatic nightlight feature is handy too. The light can be programmed to turn on at dusk and off at dawn, and it also has a motion sensor, so it can be set to turn on when someone approaches it if you prefer it not be on all night.

Hammacher Schlemmer sells the nightlights in a set of two, and they cost $60:

Nice post. I’ve actually had a mesh system on my house for a couple of years and it works okay, but I still have to get up on the roof and clean it off every once in a while. A friend from work installed a gutter cover that doesn’t use mesh about a year ago, and he says he hasn’t had to do any cleaning at all. You can check it out here, if interested: http://www.gutterhelmet.com

I have a stainless stell mesh gutter guard on my home as well. It is called Gutterglove Gutterguard. I installed it myself while my husband was at work. It was easy. I have had no problems with it clogging and I never have to climb a ladder to clean it. I found them at http://www.gutterglove.com. We love it, well worth the investment!
