Reed Ceiling Tiles Bring the African Safari Lodge to Your Home

2 September 2008

Thatch and reed ceilings aren’t for everyone (and they’re downright rare here in the Seattle area), but if you want to decorate your home like an African safari lodge (and who doesn’t?), they can fit right in.

The reed ceiling here isn’t entirely authentic (who really wants bits and pieces of thatch trickling down to land on the floor every time a breeze comes through the window anyway?), but it certainly achieves the look while being more practical to install. It’s actually made from thatch reed ceiling boards highlighted with Eucalyptus timber that “perfectly replicates the underside of a traditionally thatched African roof… and instantly transports a room’s occupants to an African safari lodge.”

The ceiling boards can also be used on the walls.
