Concrete Curbing to Enchance Your Landscape

Lindsay ~ 12 June 2008

Concrete curbing isn’t just for the streets in front of your house–it can be useful in delineating and enhancing your landscape. It’s an attractive way to separate grass from garden areas, pathways, driveways, patio areas, etc.

Concrete curbing tends to be more permanent than the blocks created with do-it-yourself edging molds, which we looked at a couple of months ago. Also, when gravel pathways or sawdust/dirt garden beds are separated with curbing, it makes it easier to keep the materials from straying, so you get a cleaner and more defined separation.

Some styles of concrete curbing you can find are aggregate (shown in the picture) and stamped (with multiple designs available such as brick weave, flagstone, and cobblestone), and they can come in different hues.

Costs for residential installation vary from area to area, with $5 to $7 a foot common.
