I thought it was just a cool looking design until I took a closer look at the different woods being used. Plus, your correct when saying that trying to choose the right type of species can be difficult. I spent several hours reviewing and learning the different types of species of wood by reading through the NWFA magazine and could not believe how many types there actually are in total. I would also say that custom laser cut designs are another great way to display different species of wood, which also would allow some really cool design work to be accomplished. Good little post.
