Above Ground Swimming Pools Can Make a Lot of Sense
During a long hot summer, a backyard swimming pool can be a real pleasure, but installing an in-ground pool is a costly matter. And in most areas, it’s not money you’ll get back when you sell your home, since not all homeowners want the hassle of caring for a pool. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have your backyard fun today.
One way to save money is to look at above ground swimming pools instead of more labor-intensive (and therefore expensive) in ground models.
Since above ground pools don’t require backyard excavations, they’re much more affordable. There are many different models, and prices can start as low as $399. For luxury models, expect to pay something closer to $10,000, but considering that in ground pools run anywhere from $30,000-$60,000 and up (depending on your location), even a high end above ground pool can be considered a deal. Also, some models may even be small enough to take with you if you move to another home, thus ending the issue of whether or not the next potential homeowner will want a pool in the yard. In some cases, you even have the option of selling it if the kids grow up and move away and you decide you don’t want it in the yard any more (try that with an in ground pool).
You may be thinking that above ground pools don’t look as good as in ground models, but it actually doesn’t take much to turn one into an aesthetically pleasing part of your yard. For instance, you may consider a model with wood siding. Also, you can build a deck out around an above ground pool, so it actually looks like an in ground model.
So, if you’re thinking of some backyard swimming fun this summer, but are worried about costs or hassle, then an above ground pool might be the way to go.
