Storage Condos, a Smart Alternative to Storage Units?

Lindsay ~ 11 February 2008

The next great home improvement might not be in the home at all.

All over the country storage condos are popping up. Unlike storage units, which you rent indefinitely for a monthly fee, with storage condos you buy them just as you would a residential condo (although the terms and interest rates tend to differ–in one case, I saw someone carrying a 10 year mortgage at 7.5% or so). The units are heated and can be customized (paint, flooring, etc.). Rather than just a box away from home where you can stick your stuff, many of the companies creating these complexes are turning them into hangouts where you can meet others interested in your hobbies (i.e. RVing, snowmobiling, skiiing, etc.).

The GarageTown folks (they have storage condos for sale in several western states) have club houses with big screen tvs where you can hang out when you’re not tinkering with your stuff, as well as restrooms with shower facilities, and other amenities.

So instead of purusing storage ideas for your home, you might want to think about investing in a storage condominium.

Those pieces look so modern.. Has that real modern contemporary look. I love it. In one reason I really like it if the color is black.
