Can a Concrete and Metal Lounge Chair Be Comfortable?

20 February 2008

If you’re like me, you don’t think of concrete and metal as chair materials that invite you to curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book. They belong outside, right?

Well, maybe not. The Chair One is a modern metal piece of furniture with a concrete swivel base, and it’s meant to hang out in your living room.

There’s no doubt that it’s unique, but the product description also promises it’s comfortable: “The Chair One from Magis is a cutting edge design and intricately made by the the masters of quality and diversity. The designer for Magis closely studied the contours of sitting and designed this chair to cradle the body just right, making it a surprisingly comfortable sit.”

Prices for the Chair One start at $420, but you’ll have to shell out $860 for the swivel version with the concrete base.
