Built-in Deck Benches Offer Lots of Extra Seating

6 February 2008

If you love to entertain in your backyard, and you often have large groups of people over, they might look around and find the seating situation a bit lacking. Even if you have a stack or two of deck chairs, it can really clutter up the area if you set them all out. Built-in benches are a clutter-free way to add a spot for everyone to sit.

If you’re designing a new deck or expanding an existing one, it’s a good idea to add built-in seating. This gives everyone a place to sit without the need to keep a plethora of deck furniture on hand. You can build benches that abut railings, surround deck features (i.e. outdoor fire pits, ponds, fountains), or double as planters.
