Access Panels Behind Tubs and Showers Save Heartaches
8 January 2008
If you’re remodeling your bathroom or building your dream home from scratch, here is something to consider: install access panels behind tubs and showers. This can save you hundreds of dollars in repair bills if a faucet needs to be replaced in the future.
While access panels were once common when walls were hand plastered, they are seldom found in homes today (though the need for them still exists).
Generally made from high-impact white ABS, the panels can be painted or papered to hide them, and having them means no need to stare at unsightly sheetrock repairs down the line. If you’re designing from scratch, you may even be able to hide them in adjacent bedroom or linen closets.
