Kitchen Islands Go Round

7 December 2007

One of the big items people like to add when they remodel the kitchen is an island. Islands offer more work and storage space, and they can even create additional seating if you install one with a raised eating/bar area.

One thing that has been pretty standard is that kitchen islands are square or rectangular. That’s just the way wood bends (or rather doesn’t bend). But what if you prefer curves to corners?

Well, today’s modern materials give you just those kind of options.

For example, here’s a circular island that might pique your interest. Part of Pedini’s Artika Collection, the pieces making up this kitchen island have definite curves.

Finished in a white polished lacquer, this unit has everything you could want in an island: extra seating, a cooktop, a sink, and plenty of drawers for storage. Oh, and it looks pretty darn good too.
