Fused Glass Kitchen Backsplash with Back Lighting

7 December 2007

When it comes to remodeling the kitchen and choosing a backsplash, most of us opt for something practical (and affordable), such as tile. Oh sure, we may work in a few decorative elements, but having a whole scene custom crafted from fused glass is a little out of the ordinary. In fact, it’s pretty extraordinary.

This fused glass lake scene was made by the Designer Glass Mosaics outfit. It’s certainly a dramatic focal point for the kitchen, and the addition of back lighting really makes it stand out.

The mosaic backsplash was made from five individual panels that were designed to fit seamlessly together. Close ups on the company’s site show the impressive detail of the work, right down to the leaves and bark on the trees.

If you’re really looking for a way to make your kitchen remodel stand out, fused glass could be a way to go for the backsplash (you can also do designs like this on cabinet doors).
