Solar-powered Christmas Lights Keep Energy Bills down

Lindsay ~ 7 November 2007

If you enjoy decorating your yard for the holidays, you probably already have a stash of Christmas lights to put up around the house. But are they eco-friendly solar-powered Christmas lights?

If you’d like to be less of a drain on Mother Nature this holiday season (or just keep your electricity bill from going through the roof), perhaps solar Christmas lights are the way to go.

Instead of plugging them into an outlet, you simply place the solar collector somewhere in the yard where daylight will strike it. Then the lights will turn on automatically when dusk falls. You don’t have to worry about remembering to turn off the Christmas lights before bed either, since they’ll go off on their own when the power in the reservoir is depleted.

Prices start around $80. Available at Solar Illuminations.
