Floating Flower Gardens Fix Cloudy Pond Water

11 August 2007

Backyard ponds are popular additions when people landscape their yards. Add a gurgling stream, a fountain, some koi, and a bench to sit and enjoy it all, and you’ve got the ideal backyard retreat. But perhaps your pond is looking a little plain, or maybe the water is cloudy. You might want to add an all-natural decoration that looks great and can clean the water: a floating flower garden.

Frontgate sells floating flower gardens and “floating turf islandscapes” that are interesting to look at and serve a useful purpose too: they mimic a “natural peat bog system in which plants and beneficial bacteria absorb excess nutrients that encourage algae growth.” This can be particularly helpful if your pond is cloudy, as it will purify the water so it becomes “become clearer and cleaner.”

Prices start at $379.
