Drought Tolerant Grass Means Less Time & Money on Watering

13 August 2007

If this summer is drying out your lawn faster than clay in a kiln, maybe it’s time to look into drought tolerant grasses. This simply means you plant a species that can thrive with less water.

Not only is drought tolerant grass a way to save money on watering, but it actually means you can cut back on how often you mow the lawn too. These varieties simply don’t grow as fast.

There are several species of grass you can choose from, such as crested wheat grass, maidengrass, and bahia, but check to see what grows well in your climate. Also keep in mind that some are more ornamental grasses than something you’ll seed your whole yard with. Check with your local nursery or home and garden store for recommendations.
