Cedar Shingle Siding Adds Beauty to a Home’s Exterior

15 August 2007

Cedar shingle siding is a wonderful way to make your house stand out, and it’s hard to beat the natural beauty of wood. There’s just no comparison to vinyl, when it comes to looks.

There are different species of cedar you can choose from. Red cedar is tight-grained and saturated with tannic acid (which acts as a natural preservative), so it’s a tough and long-lasting material. It weathers into a dark, rich look.

For a lighter hue, white cedar is a popular choice for its natural blond color. Yellow cedar is a strong, durable wood that holds nails well and is more bug resistant than red cedar.
