Cabinets Made from Sunflower Seed Husks
If you love the idea of creating a “green” house, then you’ll love all the products out now that are made from recycled, reclaimed, or waste materials. In the kitchen, you can get cabinets made from recycled paper, recycled glass, or, yes, waste sunflower seed husks.
The material I’m talking about is called Dakota Burl. It’s a bio-based composite made from waste sunflower seed husks that are then formed into a unique material resembling traditional burled wood. Dakota Burl has natural yellow and brown tones that are made striking by the addition of the black outlines of the seed husks. You get a cool distinctive random pattern running through the material.
Dakota Burl can be stained or left natural, and it can be used for cabinets, interior table surfaces, furniture, and architectural applications.
