How a Portable Air Conditioner Can Save You Money
I don’t know what the temperature is where you live, but we’ve had a hot week, reaching into the triple digits. If you don’t have air conditioning in your home, it can be uncomfortable during the day and horrible for sleeping at night.
Central air is expensive though since it cools the whole house. If you don’t already have a system, or you’re looking for a way to cut down on the energy bills associated with cooling your home, a portable air conditioner may be able to save you money. These small units are just meant to cool one room, but often that’s all you need. Place one in your bedroom at night or perhaps your home office during the day. Since portable air conditioners are not cooling the whole house, they don’t need to work as hard, which means they use less energy and cost you less money every month.
These units do need to be placed in a room with a window, as they come with hoses to vent air to the outside, but they’re pretty easy to pack up and move from room to room. At the end of the summer, it’s easy to tuck a portable air conditioner into a closet or the attic (no permanent box sticking out of the wall of your home).
The model shown here is the Haier HPE09XC6, and it has good reviews over at Amazon, where it’s on sale for less than $400. If you’re sick of the heat, maybe it’s time to take a look at a portable unit like this one.
