Retractable Glass Roofs
Lindsay ~ 7 June 2007
A great way to get more light into the house and reduce your dependence on lamps during the day is to add a skylight. But if you want something even more impressive than a skylight, you could add a glass roof in one portion of your home. Glass roofs aren’t just for greenhouses. The one pictured here even retracts, so you can enjoy the sun and get a breeze too.
It’s the work of a Scandinavian company called Bentech. They say their retractable roof can be used just about anywhere, such as restaurants, residential buildings (imagine being able to lie in bed and look up at the stars), swimming pool enclosures, atriums, winter gardens, balconies, and roof terraces. Who needs a skylight, when you can have a whole roof made from glass?
