Outdoor Gel Fuel Fire Pit
Lindsay ~ 20 June 2007
Wood-burning firepits are the most popular, with gas firepits coming in second, but models fueled by gel are gaining in popularity too.
Gel fuel is nice, especially for outdoor fireplaces, because it burns smoke free. It comes in cans or cartridges and doesn’t create soot or ash when it burns, so clean up is much easier than with wood-burning fire pits. Gel fuel creates a cheery yellow flame and offers the authentic crackling sound of real wood. You can see why more people are becoming a fan of the stuff.
You can get a gel firepit such as this one (which includes bowl and stand, logs, decorative lava rock, and fireplace tools) for about $300, and a case (24 cartridges) of gel fuel runs about $75.
