Recycled Rubber Pavers Offer Alternative to Brick, Concrete

Lindsay ~ 22 May 2007

If you need to lay a walkway or patio in your backyard, you might naturally choose brick pavers, concrete, or perhaps stone. These are all hard materials, which can crack over time. They’re also not very family friendly if you have young ones who scamper around the yard and might fall and skin a knee. An eco-friendly (and knee-friendly) alternative is pavers made from recycled rubber products.

These Sofscape recycled rubber pavers from the Reifen Rubber Co. can be installed without the help of a professional, since they’re easy to cut. They can be laid in any design and work for patios, walkways, or indoors anywhere you want a flooring surface with some give (i.e. game rooms, play rooms). According to the company, the pavers provide cushioning and slip resistance, even when wet. Sofscape floors can be swept, hosed down, blown off, or high pressure washed. It looks like a pretty versatile flooring option to me.
