Cork Flooring in the Kitchen
When you’re choosing flooring materials for the various rooms in your house, the kitchen can be a tricky one. You want something that won’t warp when exposed to moisture from cleaning, water, and the occasional spill (such as that spaghetti sauce that was supposed to stay in the pan….). Also it’s smart to install a floor that isn’t hard (like stone or ceramic) since a dropped dish will likely shatter if it strikes those materials. For an added bonus, it’s nice to have a floor that doesn’t feel like ice underfoot if you wander out barefoot for a glass of water in the middle of the night.
Vinyl is a common choice for kitchen floors, but if you want something more exotic, you could try cork. It’s relatively easy to maintain, it’s a naturally insulating material (think sound absorption), and it has a warmth that few other flooring options offer.
