Solar-powered BBQ Grill Lamp

3 April 2007

If you find yourself grilling steaks, hamburgers, and hot dogs into the evening hours, light can become a problem. Are those steaks cooked all the way through… or is it just too dark to see the pink?

A little lamp attached to the grill can make it easy to continue your outdoor cooking well after the sun has gone down. I’ve seen battery-powered models before, but this grill light from Smart Home is the first solar-powered one I’ve seen.

The lamp has a flexible, adjustable neck and clamps to the side of your grill. It uses 4 LEDs to illuminate the area. The LEDs are charged via a solar panel on top of the lamp, and a full day’s worth of sun will give you 1 hour and 45 minutes worth of light after the darkness has settled in (one does wonder what the average cloudy Seattle day gives you…).

The price for the lamp is $40:
